About Us

Jeremy Winkel, Owner/Head Mead Maker

Brewing runs in our blood—on both sides. My family were moonshiners and whiskey makers going back generations, the kind who kept the stills running even through Prohibition, when making a good drink meant knowing your craft and keeping your nerve. That stubborn, hands-on tradition is where I come from.

I’m the first in my family to make mead. It’s a different path than the whiskey my people made, but it carries the same obsession: patience, craft, and a refusal to pour anything less than the best.

The name Jotunheim comes from my Norse heritage—and from the giants in my own family. The men on my mother’s side all stand 6'8" and taller, so the realm of the Jötnar felt like home. It’s fitting: our meads are made with that same larger-than-life spirit, drawing on the honey, fruit, and wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

This meadery is my way of honoring where I come from while forging something new—a saga still being written. I’m determined to make the best mead I can, one bottle at a time. Thanks for being part of the story.

The Crew

Jotunheim Meadery isn’t a one-giant operation. Behind every batch is a crew of my closest friends—Aaron, Kevin, Joshua, and Tristan—the people I trust most, standing shoulder-to-shoulder through the whole process.

These are the folks who show up for the long days: crushing fruit at harvest, tending the mead as it ages, hauling gear and pouring horns at festivals, and holding down the tasting room with a story and a smile. They’ve been there through every batch, every late night, and every “let’s try something wild” idea that made it into a bottle.

We’re a small, tight band of Northfolk doing this the way we believe it should be done—with care, grit, good company, and more than a few horns raised along the way. Jotunheim wouldn’t be Jotunheim without them. Skål to the crew.
